Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has obtained ISO 21001:2018 Certificate in Management Systems for Educational Organizations in recognition of RTA’s training passenger transport drivers. The achievement ranks RTA as the first government entity to obtain this certification in the field of transport.

“The achievement reflects a series of initiatives and projects undertaken to improve the regime and modules of training passenger transport drivers and align them with the top global standards.  Such measures contribute to the enhancement of traffic safety in the passenger transport sectors in the Emirate,” said Abdullah Al Meer, Director of Drivers Affairs, Public Transport Agency.

“RTA’s training programmes and the selection of driving instructors’ criteria are now accredited by three reputed global entities specialised in urban transport: The British Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA), and the Spanish National Confederation of Driving Schools (CNAE),” he explained.

“Obtaining ISO is a testament to the alignment of RTA’s training tools and techniques with the top global practices. Such advancements are reflected in the implementation of interactive training, and the use of artificial intelligence (Digital Coach); the world’s first robot used in delivering theoretical training to passenger transport drivers.

“Obtaining ISO 21001:2018 props up RTA’s leading role in training passenger transport drivers and places it as the first entity to obtain this certificate in the public transport sector worldwide. It enhances the efficiency and deliverables of training and contributes to the realisation of RTA’s vision and objectives.

Such initiatives mark the high maturity level of RTA’s drivers' training and managing it at par with the highest academic global standards,” concluded Al Meer.
