Public Transport Agency has many projects on hand to develop the transportation in Dubai and to reach the highest international standards in its services. These projects and development programs have been chosen after a very detailed studies and researches in order to provide the best service possible in region and to hit the international practices.
The projects the Public Transport Agency is developing are:
• 500 A/C Passenger Bus Shelters, and plan for 1000 more
• Purchase of new buses to increase the fleet capacity as the following:
o 170 double deck- buses
o 351 articulated buses
o 30 airport buses
o 150 ordinary buses
• Renewal of all bus stations by adding more convenience facilities as covered bus station with A/C (in some bus stations), TFT screens, bus timings announcements as well as other facilities.

• Wojhati (Journey Planner): It aims to preplan the daily trips on different mass transit modes. This system will be installed on the home page of RTA and it is going to integrate all transport modes together to provide the best transport plan.
• Start the operation of international bus service to Oman, Qatar, & Kingdom of Saud Arabia in future.
• AVM (Automated Vehicle Management).The AVM system provides real information about the buses status. The Operation control center (OCC) is responsible for communication with the bus drivers (this system is in process currently).
• AFC (Automated Fare Collection). An electronic fare collection system based on Check-In-Check-Out (CICO) procedures is to be implemented for the new Dubai metro. It will be a closed system with gates at all stations.
• RTPI (Real Time Passenger Information). The RTPI system will provide up-to-date information by means of electronic displays. Information is received from the AVM system which monitors each vehicle, making it possible to inform the passengers about delays or the status of interconnections they might wish to make and so on.
