Celebrating Flag Day

RTA took part in the UAE’s celebration of the Flag Day, in response to the national initiative rolled out by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, to mark the event each year. Al Tayer expressed his pride on this day, which boosts the spirit of cohesion amongst citizens and renews the loyalty to the nation that is bracing itself for celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the federation on the 2^nd of December this year 2021.

Year of Tolerance 2019

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE declared "2019" in the UAE as a "Year of Tolerance" to cement the UAE as a global capital of tolerance. RTA contributed several initiatives to support and promote this year.

Reading month “My Family Reads”

RTA concluded its initiatives during the month of Reading, that is held in the month of March of every year. Themed ‘My Family Reads,’ 2021 this year’s edition witnessed an array of activities aimed to promote the culture of reading to RTA’s employees, their families and public transport riders. Through initiatives such as “Help me Read”, 13 of RTA’s top leaders have volunteered in virtual sessions that were held involving 40 orphan children from fixed-income families, in efforts to educate and encourage them to read.

RTA Initiatives in Thailand

As part of Ramadan Iftar initiative, branded as Meals on Wheels will run in its ninth editions. This initiative will be in the Kingdom of Thailand where RTA has gifted two buses to lift students of Dar al-Ma'arif Al-Ahlia Islamic School, South Thailand. Each bus will serve 15 students. Ramadan rations will be distributed to 1568 students in the school.

Help Me Read

Humanity is a major component of RTA’s initiatives. RTA’s strategies offered a chance for those deprived of the ability to read. It developed an initiative that will bring happiness to those individuals and qualify them to be individuals who can read. Thus, it helped them to get rid of this menace that precluded them from contributing to the development of themselves and their society.

RTA Initiatives in Egypt

RTA has distributed several auto rickshaws to help people travel in remote Egyptian villages helping families with limited income. The delegation also arranged for tuition classes in Arabic and other subjects for poor students. The beneficiaries, experiencing tough health and living conditions, were selected in coordination with the Islamic Charitable Society in Egypt. RTA has also opened two classes for teaching Arabic language and other academic subjects, and distributed school bags and stationery to about 400 students.

Tamkeen with RTA

Tamkeen with RTA is a three-month training programme that targets Emirati graduates who have not found jobs over a year since graduation, with the aims of empowering and grooming them for the job market. The Programme corresponds with the approach of the RTA to embed the values of giving back towards Emirati graduates; who are the future drivers of the UAE’s development. Graduates are trained by a bunch of experienced RTA specialists who have donated their professional knowledge and time to train these youths on the work environment and creative & strategic thinking.

RTA foundation donated two school buses, 400 bags containing school supplies and 50 bicycles in cooperation with Al Futtaim Motors and Dar Al Ber Society. This formed a part of the "Global Contributions" of the RTA Charity Foundation and also an extension of the ‘Year of Giving’ and the ‘Year of Zayed’; bearing lofty human values.

Refurbishing 60k uniforms through Kiswat Khair initiative

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has retrofitted and recycled 60,000 pieces of official uniforms in the 5^th annual Kiswat Khair (Clothes for Good) initiative, which took place at Etisalat by e& Metro Station with the collaboration of students and people of determination, as well as 17 public and private entities.

RTA has had several successes in social responsibility. It achieved the Dubai Chamber CSR Label for the third year in a row, thus became the first government department to make this achievement. White Stick

RTA’s volunteers participate in the White Cane March on October 15^th. The event is organized by Al Ihssan Charitable Society on the occasion of the International Day of the Blind, in support of the visually impaired. The march was carried out with a white stick that represents the blind. Participants put on special glasses blocking eyesight so that people can have a sense of the blind on this day

As part of its efforts to contribute to the society and raise the public awareness of its services, RTA annually sponsors "interactive corner" at KidZania in the Dubai Mall concerned with various transit systems in Dubai. Models of public buses, Dubai taxis and bus stations were provided for the visitors of KidZania. RTA organises events and quizzes on the site to educate children about traffic safety standards.

Engineers Without Borders

Mobile Eye Clinic

RTA has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Noor Dubai Charitable Foundation, whereby the RTA will establish a mobile eye clinic equipped with the required devices to serve the Emirates of the UAE. RTA prepares and deploys a bus fitted with necessary medical equipment to be a mobile clinic.

Back to school initiative

RTA embarked on an initiative with students getting back to schools at the start of the new academic year 2021-2022, to give away laptops to the most frequent commuting students that use the metro and tram services to reach their schools and universities; which reflects the RTA’s commitment to encourage all community segments, especially students, to use public transit means encompassing Dubai metro, tram, public buses and marine transit means. The Joys of Eid

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) organized its humanitarian initiative "Eid Joy",on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, with the aim of making orphans children happy by distributing Eidiya and gifts in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent, and BabyShop from Landmark group, where Eid clothes and gifts were distributed as shopping vouchers for children, in addition to live entertainment by the store.

Distributing Ramadan Rations

RTA has organized several initiatives in the month of Ramadan, due to its keenness to participate in humanitarian and charitable events organized in the holy month, given their immense social and humanitarian values, RTA celebrated Zayed Humanitarian Day, through distrusting Ramadan Rations this year with nol cards valued at 500 Dirhams each, to eligible taxi and bus drivers. Zayed Humanitarian day corresponds to the 19th of Ramadan each year, a date that marks the death of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

Annual Autism Awareness Campaign

As part of the 15^th annual autism awareness campaign launched by the Dubai Autism Center under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, over 5,300 screens located in the RTA’s metro, tram and bus stations as well as gas stations and shopping centres are displaying awareness messages to educate society about the importance of accepting and empowering individuals with autism and integrating them into society.

RTA launched the volunteers digital platform for the employees which enables them to view their personal volunteering profile, view the latest available volunteers opportunities and registering in them. In addition, they will be able to submit their volunteering hours and uploading their certificates at their convenience.

Issuing driving licenses for free to 25 low-income earners

RTA is continuing the charitable initiative offering training and learning materials as well as all procedures for obtaining driving license free of charge for disadvantaged individuals. The initiative, which is run in conjunction with the Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) and Beit Al Khair Society, is part of RTA’s responsibility to various community members.

RTA Donates 6 million dirhams

At the podium of the concluding ceremony of the Hope Makers initiative, RTA announced a financial contribution to the project of building Prof. Magdi Yacoub Heart Centre in Egypt; which will offer cardiac care and surgeries to millions of patients across the Arab world for free. RTA donation amounted to six million dirhams.

Charity Bus Drives Charity to Arab and African Nations

The Roads and Transport Authority was not satisfied that the role of the charity bus was limited locally, but also made it possible for Arab and African regions, as the authority realises that giving does not depend on a specific geographical area, so it spread its goodwill to Egypt and other friendly countries such as Thailand, Tanzania and Uganda.

Clothes for Good

RTA launched the Clothes for Good Initiative in 2018, which is a voluntary initiative aimed at rehabilitating the clothes of parking inspectors, bus and taxi drivers of the Roads and Transport Authority. Clothes that are a surplus to the need for employees of technical nature in a number of governmental and private companies and entities in Dubai, to be suitable for the humanity of the needy groups. To this end, the authority invited volunteers from all participating parties and society to prepare these clothes to rehabilitate them to become suitable for use by these groups.

The Dubai Endowment Sign (Public Transport Endowment)

RTA has launched the world's first endowment taxicab; a taxi from RTA’s Dubai Taxi Corporation's fleet. The income of this taxicab will be dedicated to the Public Transport Endowments. The objective of this gesture is to raise the awareness and support to community efforts by public transport. Accordingly, RTA has dedicated the income of one taxicab of the Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) to support the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy.

RTA provides signboards leading to condolence sites free of charge to citizens in the Emirate of Dubai, as a community initiative. The signs fit with the standard of the city instead of casual signs written on cardboard which could drop the aesthetic appearance of the Emirate
