Flexible mobility project in three residential areas
Project Description
- Flexible transportation in three residential areas - Al-Karama, Al-Mankhool and Al-Qusais 1.
- The implementation of 314 elevated pedestrian crossing areas and 66 speed-calming devices.
- The construction of 33 kilometres of cycle paths, some of which are shared with pedestrians in certain areas.
- The construction of about 52 kilometres of road lanes that share flexible (non-motorised) mobility with vehicles.
- The provision of 2,000 directional/cautionary signs, the modification of 77,000 square metres of sidewalks, the creation of 21 rest areas, and seven shaded paths.
Project Benefits
- The development of an integrated and friendly system of infrastructure through the strengthening of links between development projects and attractions.
- The encouragement of alternative means of transportation, such as walking, cycling and electric scooters.
- The development of first and last mile requirements by providing a set of integrated transportation elements, such as bicycle paths, pedestrian crossings and rest stops, shaded paths, cosmetic cultivation, private vehicle rental parking, and bicycle parking.
