Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority RTA, in coordination with the Project Management Institute (PMI) in the United States of America, has launched a specialized training program in construction project management. The program aims to develop human resources from various categories, including engineers, project managers, and department managers in the authority's specialized fields. It includes practical project management, managing communication between project work teams, building control skills over project elements, and contract and risk management training.

Athari Mohamed, Director of Human Resources and Development in the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, stated that the program benefits 80 employees and is part of the cooperation and coordination between RTA and the Project Management Institute. The program includes reviewing development programs and professional certificates related to the Authority’s specialized fields. It is the latest accredited professional certificate offered by the institute in construction project management. The program addresses effective project management, communication between project work teams, building control skills in project elements, and contract and risk management.

She added that the training will take place in person at RTA's training centre from May to December 2024. The main goal is to improve the knowledge and skills of professionals working on construction projects, thus increasing their efficiency. This program will enable participants to enhance their abilities in managing RTA’s projects related to infrastructure, highways, road design, safety audits, traffic safety engineering, material quality, and project contracts management.

"Expected outcomes include the improved efficiency and effectiveness of RTA employees, particularly nationals, by acquiring an internationally accredited professional certificate from PMI. This achievement underscores RTA's leadership in implementing internationally accredited specialized training programs. The trainees' progress and the program's impact will be assessed through an approved methodology, with participants registered for the final exam upon completion of the training sessions," concluded Athari.
