Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the ‘Injaz’ initiative for specialised professional certifications and the ‘Maharat’ initiative for the self-development of employees. The launching of these initiatives is in line with RTA’s efforts through the Human Resources and Development Department to encourage Emirati employees to engage in self-learning and foster initiative to develop their career paths.

Injaz Initiative – Within the UAE 

Injaz Initiative is launched by RTA’s Human Resources and Development Department to empower and encourage employees to pursue continuous self-learning by supporting them in obtaining accredited professional certificates from local or international universities and training institutes based in the UAE through direct enrolment. The initiative stipulates that interested employees have to be UAE nationals, and their tasks and job levels must align with the training programmes’ requirements. Programmes selected are limited to two per student and applicants must obtain prior approval from the Human Resources and Development Department. 

RTA will be the tuition fees for students joining this initiative once they pass they fulfil the programme requirements and obtain the professional certification. The employee has to submit a copy of the programme certificate and a copy of the paid tuition fees documents to the Human Resources and Development Department.

Maharat Initiative – Outside the UAE 

Maharat Initiative enables Emirati employees staying overseas on annual vacations, or for any other reason, to join training programmes in accredited universities where they stay. Upon completion of the study and returning to duty, RTA will reimburse the costs of the training programme to the employee after the submission of a detailed report through his or her department to the Human Resources and Development Department, along with a copy of the participation certificate and the original financial costs documents.
