Tours of Dubai’s Landmarks for ITS World Congress Participants

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) organised exclusive visits to major landmarks and project sites for participants of the ITS World Congress, hosted by ARTECO from September 16 to 20, 2024. The objective of these visits was to offer participants a comprehensive view of Dubai’s state-of-the-art transport infrastructure and innovative technologies. 

The visits covered sites including ITS Traffic Management Centre, GM Cruise, Museum of the future, Dubai Metro depot, DEWA – Solar Park, DXB Control Centre and DIEZ. The visits provided a unique opportunity for participants to explore how Dubai is leading the way in smart mobility, autonomous vehicles, and future-forward urban planning.

RTA coordinated with relevant officials to ensure a seamless experience for the guests, providing detailed explanations of Dubai’s advanced transport infrastructure, autonomous vehicles, and visionary projects.

Participants from all over the world expressed their enthusiasm for the opportunity to explore these landmark sites, each a testament to innovation in engineering, design, and management. They appreciated the RTA's comprehensive support during their tours.

MG Cruise: 

Participants enjoyed a 10-minute ride in a self-driving car, experiencing GM's autonomous technology and its safety and efficiency features.

ITS Traffic Management Centre:

Participants saw how Dubai’s Intelligent Traffic Systems use real-time data from cameras and sensors to manage traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve road safety.

Museum of the Future: 

 Visitors explored all floors of this landmark, engaging with exhibits on AI, space exploration, and advanced technologies through immersive displays.

Dubai Metro Depot:

The tour covered the Operation Control Centre and maintenance facilities, showcasing the depot's role in metro operations, maintenance, and its advanced technology.

DEWA Solar Park:

Participants toured interactive zones, including the History Zone, Light Zone, and Solar Zone, and enjoyed views of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, concluding with a visit to the Sun Gate souvenir shop.

DXB Control Centre:

Participants observed how the Centre integrates various systems to ensure efficient, safe, and punctual airport operations.

DIEZ: 

Visitors explored the Dubai International Exhibition Zone (Dubai Integrated Economic Zones), a major venue for global trade shows and conferences.

Participants expressed their gratitude to the RTA for the exceptional support and expressed interest in visiting more of Dubai’s landmarks and projects in the future.
