H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai approves the awarding of Route 2020 Project at a cost of AED10.6 billion and orders the immediate start of project construction, and the timely completion to address the requirements of demographic growth in communities besides the metro line. The contract encompasses the extension of the Red Line of the Dubai Metro 15 km from Nakheel Harbour & Tower Station to the location of Expo and it includes the procurement of 50 trains; 35 to upgrade the metro service, and 15 for Expo service.
