Road Safety Film Festival Competition
The Roads and Transport Authority fosters innovation and creativity by supporting initiatives that encourage youth and university students to tackle the leading causes of traffic accidents. This is done through the Road Safety Film Festival Competition where participants must submit impactful short films on road safety awareness that contribute to changing bad driving behaviours in one of the following categories:
- Dangers of sudden swerve
- Dangers of driving distractions
- Improper behaviour while riding bicycles and e-scooters
Categories
Participants must select one of the categories below to present their impactful and innovative road safety films that raise awareness about the leading causes of accidents:

Prizes
Three lucky winners will be selected from each category (a total of 9 winners) based on the criteria of innovative short road safety films and will receive the following prizes:
1st Place
AED 7,000
Including certificate of appreciation
2nd Place
AED 5,000
Including certificate of appreciation
3rd Place
AED 3,000
Including certificate of appreciation

Submissions and Key Factors for Success
Are you willing to take part in the competition?
Here are a few key factors to the success of your film:
- Participation of road safety awareness films is welcome starting from 17 March 2025 through RTA’s website: www.rta.ae/roadsafetyfilmfestival
- The online submission form must be completed while attaching your nominated road safety film.
- Participants can choose any format: documentary, animation, live-action, or AI-generated films.
- Select a category from the main causes of accidents and get creative in contributing to road safety awareness.
- Conduct research and utilise available online data to produce an impactful, high-quality film that aligns with the contest's objectives and effectively promotes positive changes in driving behaviors.
- Duration of the submitted road safety awareness film must be at least 1 minute and must not exceed 3 minutes.
- Nominated films must be in Arabic or English, or include narration, voiceover, or subtitles in either of these languages.
- Participants must upload their nominated films to YouTube as private and share the link via the submission form while granting access to judges.
- Last day to receive submissions is 14th of July 2025.

Terms & Conditions
- Competition is open only to youth (age 18-35 years old), and university or college students in the UAE. Higher education students are also eligible to participate.
- Participants can get involved individually or in teams of 3 people maximum, a team leader must be assigned by the team.
- If a team decides to participate, the designated team leader will be authorized to receive the prize on behalf of the team in the event of a win.
- Participants may submit more than one film in multiple different categories.
- The objective of entries and awareness road safety films must be clear.
- The submitted films should be original and are impactful and effective in reducing traffic accidents and building road safety awareness.
- The entries must be consistent with the objectives, terms and conditions of the competition.
- Nominations for the contest can only be submitted online via RTA's website: www.rta.ae/roadsafetyfilmfestival
- The online submission form must be completed while attaching your nominated road safety film.
- The judging committee reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it is inconsistent with the contests' objectives or conditions.
- RTA reserves the right to re-publish and use the competing films and to dispose them.
- RTA takes no responsibility or liability towards the submitted films in the contest, participants must take sole responsibility of the films they submit.
- Winners of all categories will be announced at the Road Safety Film Festival.

Selection Criteria
An expert panel of judges will make their decisions regarding the winning impactful road safety films based on the following criteria:
