RTA Showcases Initiatives at the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference


RTA stand at the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Exhibition & Conference

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) participated in the Global Rail; The Transport Infrastructure Exhibition and Conference held from 8 to 10 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The event was organised by Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE’s national railway network, in collaboration with the UAE’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.


The event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, with the support of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Etihad Rail.


RTA is participating in this global event with a stand that highlights key projects and initiatives in transportation infrastructure, including the Blue Line of Dubai Metro, suspended transport systems, the smart metro station, the advanced metro rail inspection system, passenger flow monitoring in metro stations and carriages, and the unified nol card system for fare payments across various transportation modes.


The RTA pavilion also showcased a number of technical topics including:  Rail Fare System with nol Cards represented by Dubai Metro and Tram stations, enhanced Nol cards for fare systems, modern nol cards, accessibility and efficiency of mass transit means, Revenue Monitoring and Protection Application: represented by web-based applications to protect fare management operations, and Asset Management and Engineering Configuration of Dubai Metro and Tram, which are an integral part of the RTA’s framework. The RTA pavilion also showcased other topics including: Asset Configuration, Data Management, System Engineering, and Data Interoperability.


The event brought together a distinguished cast of transport and railway leaders, strategic experts, and specialists to discuss global trends in railways, sustainable infrastructure for the sector, and the specific challenges faced in this field.


Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Maintenance at RTA’s Rail Agency participated in one of the conference’s discussion panels. During the session, he focused on several key topics, including RTA's ongoing efforts to achieve its goals of encouraging and motivating the public from all segments of society to switch from using private vehicles to using public transportation modes such as the metro, tram, public buses, and marine transport. 


Al Mutawa emphasised RTA’s commitment to environmental and financial sustainability, as well as the sustainability of assets and properties, by contributing to reducing traffic congestion and extending the lifespan of road infrastructure with fewer private vehicles, which naturally leads to fewer accidents and improved traffic flow on roads and streets.
