This service enables you to book and change an appointment for a Knowledge test and request remote interpretation of its questions and answers, a Yard test and/or a Road test. It also enables you to book and change an Evaluation test appointment in case your driving licence wasn't issued within 1 year from passing the Road test or was not renewed for more than 10 years.

Process

Through Website (Knowledge, Yard, or Road)

  1. The customer logs in to his personal profile on the website using username and password, UAE Pass or his valid Emirates ID or traffic file number.
  2. The system verifies the customer’s identity by sending an OTP to his registered phone number.
  3. The customer books and changes an appointment for the required test.
    • If the customer wants to book a remote interpretation for the knowledge test, he selects the service and the remote interpretation fees are added to the test fees.
  4. The customer settles the required fees on the website or at the institute.
  5. The customer receives an SMS and email with the scheduled appointment date.

Evaluation Test

If the licence expired more than 10 years ago or is not issued after one year of passing a road test, the customer must do the following:

  1. The customer applies for Renewing a Driving Licence.
  2. The customer enters the required information.
  3. The system validates the customer data.
  4. The customer books or changes an appointment for the evaluation test.
  5. The customer settles the required fees.
  6. The customer receives an SMS and email with the scheduled appointment date.

Through Smart Applications (Road test)

  1. The customer enters the learning permit application number and the date of birth.
  2. The customer selects an appointment from the list of available appointments (new booking or changing an appointment).
  3. The customer settles the required fees by credit card.
  4. The customer receives an SMS and email with the scheduled appointment date.

Through Driving Institutes (Knowledge, Yard, or Road)

  1. The customer submits the learning permit application number.
  2. The customer selects an appointment from the list of available appointments (new booking or changing an appointment).
  3. If the customer requests a remote interpretation of the Knowledge test (available in all languages):
    • The interpreter calls the centre and gets connected with the customer through Skype.
    • The customer takes the exam while the interpreter translates all the questions and options.
  4. The customer settles the required fees.
  5. An electronic copy of the receipt is sent to the e-mail registered in the system, and an SMS is sent to the registered phone number with a link to download a copy of the transaction receipt.

Through Smart Screens (Road test)

  1. The customer enters the Emirates ID number or the learning permit application number.
  2. The customer selects an appointment from the list of available appointments (new booking or changing an appointment).
  3. The customer settles the required fees over the counter in the Institute ahead of booking.
  4. The customer receives an SMS and email with the scheduled appointment date.

Through the Customer Happiness Centre (Evaluation test)

  1. The customer submits the required documents at the Customer Happiness Centre in Deira.
  2. The customer settles the required fees.
  3. The customer books or changes an appointment from the list of available appointments. Women apply for the test at the Dubai Driving Center Al Qusais branch, and men apply at the Emirates Driving Center Al Qusais branch.

Through Mahboub Chatbot (Road test)

  1. The customer inquires about the service through a conversation with Mahboub, for example: booking an appointment for a Road test, changing a Road test appointment.
  2. Mahboub displays the requirements for applying for the service and the required fees.
  3. Mahboub checks if the customer wants to complete the process of booking or changing a Road test appointment.
  4. The customer approves and is required to enter the traffic file number and the year of birth in the following format (19xx).
  5. The customer sets the Road test appointment date and time that suits him (new booking or changing an appointment).
  6. The system verifies the identity of the customer by sending an OTP to the mobile number registered in the system.
  7. The customer settles the required fees by credit card.
  8. The customer receives the reference number of the transaction.
  9. The customer receives an SMS and email with the scheduled appointment date.

Terms and conditions
  • The customer must have a valid learning application.
  • To request a remote interpretation of the Knowledge test, the customer must book the service 5 days before the scheduled Knowledge test date.
  • Knowledge test: the customer must complete all the theory training requirements.
  • Yard test: the customer must complete the training requirements and pass the Knowledge test and the Evaluation test of the driving institutes.
  • Road test: the customer must complete the training requirements and pass the Knowledge and Yard tests and settle all the fees.
  • If the customer didn't show for the test, he must book a new test appointment and pay the required fees.
  • If the customer wishes to book an appointment during official holidays, he must pay additional fees to the driving institute.
  • After passing each test, the customer receives an email and an SMS with a link to book the appointment for the next test.
  • After each failed road test, the customer must take a 4 classes before the next test.
FAQs
  • Question 1: How can the customer change the appointment of the Road test?

Answer 1: The customer can postpone the appointment of the Road test through online channels or the Driving Institute 24 hours prior to the test date. He can prepone it at any time provided that he finds an available appointment and settles the required fees by applying for the same service.

Question 2: When can the customer book another Road test if he failed it?

Answer 2: The customer can book another Road test from the list of available appointments at any time after he fulfills the training requirements.

  • Question 3: How long does the customer have to wait after finishing the driving classes/lessons to book the Road test appointment?

Answer 3: The customer can book a test from the list of available appointments at any time even during training. He must fulfill the training requirements 24 hours before the test.

  • Question 4: How many questions are there in the Knowledge Test and how many must be answered correctly to pass?

Answer 4:

  • Number of questions: 40
  • Minimum correct answers required: 30.

Note: If the customer failed the Road test 5 consecutive times, he must apply for the Institute Evaluation test.

  • Question 5: What is the Evaluation test that's required at the Driving Institutes?

Answer 5: It's an evaluation test conducted by the Driving Institute to check the readiness of the customer to take the Yard test.

  • Question 6: If the customer has more than one category on his driving licence which has expired more than 10 years ago, must he take one Evaluation test for all categories, or a final Road test for each category?

Answer 6: The customer must take one assessment test, for light vehicle category. When he passes the test, all the categories will be included in the licence, and there is no need to take all the tests.

  • Question 7: If the customer has an expired Dubai driving licence more than 10 years ago, and came back to Dubai with a driving licence from an exception country, must he take the evaluation test to renew his Dubai driving licence?

Answer 7: No, holders of driving licences from exception countries, regardless of their nationality, are exempted from the evaluation test when renewing their Dubai driving licence.

  • Question 8: Is the customer allowed to take driving tests while wearing shorts or inappropriate clothes?

Answer 8: According to RTA rules and procedures, customers must adhere to modest dress when visiting government agencies, out of respect and appreciation for government laws.
