Eligibility
Individual customers, citizens and residents in Dubai, are eligible to apply for this service.
Required documents
  1. Valid Emirates ID.
Service fees
  • 100 AED.
  • + 20 AED Knowledge and Innovation fees.

  1. The customer logs in to the RTA website.
  2. The customer enters his Emirates ID number, Driving Licence number, or Traffic File number.
  3. The customer enters his registered phone number.
  4. The customer specifies and confirms the changes (Name, nationality, date, with or without glasses).
  5. The system verifies the customer’s data.
  6. The customer settles the required fees.
  7. The customer receives a temporary Driving Licence by email while waiting for the updated licence, which can be delivered through the below channels:
    • Self Service Machines
    • Customer Happiness Centres in Deira or Al Barsha
    • Through the delivery service, with the delivery fees as follows:
      • Standard delivery 20 AED
      • Same day delivery 35 AED
      • Delivery within 2 hours 50 AED
      • International delivery 50 AED.

  • Question 1: What should the Marsoom holder customer do to change his licence photo?

Answer 1: The customer can attach a photo when submitting the request, provided that it is approved by the relevant team after verification of the identity of the owner of the photo.

  • Question 2: Can Marsoom holders and diplomats apply for the service via electronic channels?

Answer 2: Yes they can.

  • Question 3: What is the procedure if the customer becomes a Person of Determination after obtaining the driving licence? Can he continue to use the same licence?

Answer 3: The customer must visit the Customer Happiness Centre and present the People of Determination card to activate the People of Determination feature in the traffic system.

  • Question 4: If the customer has the glasses sign on his Dubai driving licence but starts using contact lenses instead of glasses, should he add the contact lenses sign to the driving licence?

Answer 4: According to the procedures, there is no difference between glasses and contact lenses, and the customer can use them both while driving.
